Filipino Wayne Dell Manuel Shines in Google Map Makers Global Competition
Filipino Wayne Dell Manuel made his country Philippines proud as he capture the elusive Google company’s first Google Map Makers Global Competition, that attracted users from all over the world to map about universities, schools and hospitals with their respected countries so that humanitarian organizations may have an easy way of getting easy access with them.
Manuel outperformed 700 other entries worldwide to nail the cool $50,000 donation dangled by UNICEF for his home country. The donation will help Filipino Youths with some useful projects.
The goal of the contest is to aid humanitarian organizations to give better services, respond to some disaster or crises, and giving countries to gain access to digital maps with accuracy. The judging of entries is based in the quality and quantity of map edits and moderation.
Manuel said, “We Filipinos are known for our spirited Bayanihan, and this is a great way for us to make life better for our fellow kababayans by literally putting their communities on the digital map.”
