House Training a Puppy
House training a puppy to be a good housemate can be implemented well if given proper time management. Predicting when your pup eliminates, you need to put him in the right place at the right time. A reward is a must every time when he go the right spot, this will enhance a strong habit, and in days ahead, will make your pup, a house-trained dog.
Don’t allow your pup to make mistakes. Mete out appropriate punishments when he makes mistakes of eliminating in front of you to help him prevent from repeating making the sane mistake. You can supervise your pup as well as build bond with him by keeping him on a leash. While on leash your pup can only afford to play with you and with his toys, he can’t run from one place to another and for sure he can avoid mistakes.
Isolate him in a small area such as in bathroom and provide his needs: Crate to sleep in, chew toys and some indoor toilet paper. When confined to this area he can avoid making mistakes and learns to behave well – eliminating on paper and chewing his toys.
Begin by covering the entire area by covering the entire floor with paper and gradually decrease the area covered by a small bit 3 to 4 days. This will enable him to target the papered area, even though the size of the paper is decreasing from time to time. When your puppy reached 6 months old he should be resting for 4 to 6 hours in his crate. Following these effective tools of handling your pup, in no time will be a successful house-trained dog.
