Many More Moons Discovered in the Solar System

With the rapid advancement of technology in a span of six years more moons are discovered in the Solar System, stated by the science magazine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

The number of known or discovered moons in the Solar System has grown two times. In 2003 there are 136 moons circling the seven planets with only Venus and Mercury having no known moons or the so-called satellites.

Here is the number of moons of the five of the seven planets in the Solar System:

Moons

Jupiter has 61 moons or satellites,

Saturn has 31 moons or satellites,

Uranus 27 moons or satellites,

Neptune 13 moons or satellites,

Mars 2 moons or satellites,

Earth 1 moon or satellite

Note: Although Pluto has one moon; this very cold planet is no longer one of the planets in the Solar System since it is now considered as a Dwarf Planet.
